Im interested in a vehicle for sale. The guy told me that he changed the brakes and the master cylinder. Then as soon as he did that the ABS light went on and so did an alarm. The alarm hasnt gone off for a llittle while but he expects it will go on again. The seller said that it needs some sort of wiring done that is attached to the master cylinder. that would cost around 1,000 Dollars. He believes that Lexus made it so that would happen if you dont take it do a dealership.
Anyone that is familiar with this please let me know what is actually going on as even the seller is confused as to why it did this.
i work at a lexus dealership in service and i assure you that they have not designed anything to malfunction in the case you do it yourself. some model lexus have brake pad indicators which could have been damaged replacing the brakes. but more than likely its related to the master cylinder. i highly suggests taking the car to a dealership to get it looked at. it could be that the brakes werent bled properly but its better to have it looked at then not
