Newer Lexus cars have license plate bulbs that have HID like lighting to them. Were can we buy bulbs like these.I did from Ebay and they say white but once installed they are more of a blue/purple type of white.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew of a good, trustworthy mechanic or mechanic shop in Kentucky that works on Lexus cars. I know the obvious place is the Lexus dealership, but I have heard about a lot of people getting charged for extra stuff and charged outrageous prices. Of course that can happen anywhere, but I know if it happens at Lexus, that it’ll cost me a whole lot more than the average place.

My husband and I have had 3 Lexus vehicles over the years (have 2 currently). We’ve always used the Lexus dealership in Nicholasville for maintenance and never been overcharged or had them try and talk us into anything. I’ve even had two minor things comped. They are very honest. On my last visit I was talking about whether to change from my Lexus RX to a Lexus ES or Toyota Avalon. The staff was very upfront and said while they are comparable, the Avalon was the better car.

I am planning to buy a Lexus, yet i notice Lexus cars look almost identical to Toyota cars, i assume they just crossover the car, do a few touchups to the grille and lights and re-badge it.

Are there any major differences to the engine or interior of the Lexus that justify the x2 price increase to its Toyota counterpart?

It depends on the model. Some Lexus vehicles share platforms with Toyota vehicles and on those, the differences are mainly cosmetic (badging, grill, interior materials). Mechanically, they’re usually identical.

There are some Lexus vehicles that are unique and do not have a Toyota counterpart.

Some people say the lexus, others say infiniti. sometimes on sundays i go to dealership to see the newest and last vehicle out there. and just this pass sunday i went to the lexus dealer and the infiniti dealer. it seems to me that both cars are somewhat the same. now i have test drove a lexus and some people in my family have infiniti`s and both cars to me feel about the same, i mean after all they are both japanees cars. but which car will last longer? now to be honest with u i see a lot of "old school" (1990-1996)as they say, lexus out there more so than i see old school infiniti`s. my mother is not a fan of foregin cars, but two cars she would always talk about was the Q45 and the lexus LS400. my favorite was the Q45. but since they discontinued it, did the M45 take it`s place? i think that the lexus and infiniti are pretty cars, but who has better re-sale value. since one is made by toyota and the other made by nissan?

If I had to give the slight edge to one, it would be the Lexus. Yes they are both very good cars, but the service and support for Lexus is incredible, and it should be for a car in that price range.

I hold them in highest regard. I have driven BMW (great engine/transmission, had 2); Mercedes (snob appeal, resting on their laurels, treated me like an idiot , had 3 of them) and have had 4 Lexus autos.

Some people say they are MB knockoffs or wanna be’s. They may be but they have done a better job of providing what MB was supposed to provide than MB did (read Consumer Reports, check out their reliability ratings and their best buy recommendations.

Lexus has better fit and finish than BMW, it’s more luxurious Better reliability than most MB. The Lexus has better ergonomics (things are where they should be and easily used) than either the MB or BMW.

I could go on but one other thing: value for the money. I don’t think any auto provides more than the Lexus.

If this is just an opinion poll that’s my opinion. If you are considering owning one, you really need to go drive all your choices and think about how much time you will spend in the car. Set aside snob appeal or length of time in business and focus on the car. I think the choice will be obvious.

BTW, Scharf (following contributor) is right on in the sales/service area. As I said, the folks at MB used to treat me like an idiot for suggesting something was not working as it was supposed to work. As it turns out, I was right.
