Whats the average cost of owning a Lexus 99 as far as maintenance goes?

by Reed on January 22, 2010

Planning on purchasing a used 1999 Lexus ES300, However Im afraid the maintenance cost for Foreign vehicles is much higher and pricier. Can anyone help me?

the es 300 is like a toyota camry. look under the hood it’s all toyota parts. there is no really no big difference. just replaced my timing belt and water pump total for parts and labor 430 dollars at toyota. just make sure it was serviced and taken care of you will be okay in repairs. i bought my 1997 es 300 in 1998 with 15,000 miles. i still own it with 182,000 and i have had no major issues. same engine and tranny. i had to replace egr valve and oxygen sensors which was not costly. in 11 years under 2,000 dollars in expenses for repairs.

Help my fuel gauge is not working!!! Lexus!!?

by Reed on January 2, 2010

I drive an 1996 Lexus es300. Its my first car and I’m an teenager. I just started driving 2 weeks ago. I brought my car from an autowhole sale. So I been driving my car around for like 2 weeks. And my fuel barely goes down And somtimes it goes back up. to fill tank randomly. And I ask my dad and he said well you don’t drive a lot and you don’t use ac a lot so your fuel shouldn’t be used that fast. And I’m thinking o wow this Lexus is very fuel efficient. But the other day while I’m driving my car the fuel empty lights came on and I was so confused bcuz my fuel meter is like full. Then I went to put some gas on it. What should I do? Is it expensive to pay? I don’t have much money? I called the place where I got it from and they said theres nothing they can do about it because my 30 day warrenty doesn’t cover it. It only covers the engine. That doesn’t make any sense. PLEASE HELP! THANKS

it’s a ‘96- stuff breaks. Don’t waste your money fixing it.

Look in the manual for the gas tank size and keep track of your fuel economy when you fill up. Do some simple math and set your trip odometer each time you fill up. Be sure to top off again well before reach your magic number.

es300 lexus. how to tell if it needs a tune up…?

by Reed on January 2, 2010

1993 lexus es300 drives great with high miles. changed air filter, oil, drives great. I just need to know if I need a tune up. I am getting a bit over 200 miles per full tank……..any answers are appreciated……….Thanks..

Alex, NYC it will go for sale soon…since unfortunately I am moving to manhattan, where parking costs over 400 dollars a month………

The tune up on that vehicle should be done every 60,000 miles. The wires, cap and rotor button should be replaced around 100,000.

in this car it has two meters one for the light and one for the gage. The Gage is bad in your lexo so when you’re almost empty the secondary meter picks up that you’re low on fuel and triggers the dummy light even though the gage says full. It’ll be about 400 bucks to fix it at the dealer. Welcome to the headaches of owning a car
